Active & Engaged Lifestyle

At Ranfurly, we encourage a physically active and mentally stimulating lifestyle and strong social engagement to create  a sense of purpose and meaning in a supportive environment.

The activities programme is regularly reviewed to ensure it provides plenty of variety and meets the needs of residents whether in a group format or individually.

In addition, the activities programme caters for all levels of interest and includes  outings to the broader community in our purpose-built van.

We also experience mutual visitation between the village residents and the care facility, with many village residents affording their time to assist in activities. This creates an engaging and integrated living environment – “a community”.

Ranfurly Gardens

The beautiful mature gardens provide our care facility residents with easy access to nature. The hospital also boasts a sensory garden providing residents with opportunities for daily exercise, interaction with nature or simply quiet enjoyment.

The mixed planting of the sensory garden is chosen to add a sense of ‘discovery’ as things come into season, promote year-round wildlife visits, provide colour and fragrance, and a memory prompt back to home gardens.

Adjacent Community Gardens on the hill provide further opportunities for more active and able residents to take part of gardening activities and harvesting.

Our activity programme integrates these environs, whether it be through daily walks, flower picking and arranging, sensory experiences or seasonal display and planting.

Dining and Nutrition

Our menus offer residents an extensive choice of well-balanced and highly nutritious meals. The seasonal menus are designed around the health and dietary requirements of our residents, everything is made from scratch in house by our skilled kitchen team. Residents are encouraged to enjoy their meals in the dining lounge, however private dining in the care suites is also always available.

Daily enjoyment is an important part of life at Ranfurly Hospital whether it be regular happy hours, or a visit to the popular Poppies Café and Living Room in the wider Ranfurly Village with friends and family.
