Ranfurly’s Moving Anzac Day Tribute26 April 2017
Over 250 guests including local MPs, Trustees of the Ranfurly Veterans’ Trust, Ranfurly Hospital staff, residents and families gathered on a stunning, crisp morning for Ranfurly Hospital and Veterans’ Home Anzac ceremony.
Alan (Rusty) Vail ex NZSAS commented that the ANZAC Day Service was well conducted and friendly. "It is significant, not only for veterans who remember their comrades, but also for those residents and next-of-kin who remember veterans who have died whilst in Ranfurly. It is fantastic to see that more young people are attending the service. May we have many more ANZAC Day Services here.”
Special thanks to Frank & Jeanette for laying the wreath on behalf of Village apartment residents.
Following the Last Post, a minute's silence was observed following which the Ode was read by Stan Green who served in Vietnam with 161 Battery RNZA.
After the service guests mingled over afternoon tea.
